Tokens of Love activity allows children to create drawings, notes and even some spoil mum vouchers for mum to enjoy this Mother's Day, all stored in a uniquely decorated paper mache heart. Plus, children can continue to add to the heart for years to come, continuing to spread messages of love and appreciation.
Here’s how to make it:
- Fold the paper circles in half and then half again.
- Cut along the folds so you have four individual quarters of the circle.
- On the one side of the circle quarters have the children write and draw notes of appreciation and love for their mother*.
- Once they’re finished writing their notes use the ladybirds and any other crafty resources to decorate the Paper Mache Heart.
- Slip in your notes! Don’t forget to tell children to continue to post messages to mum anytime they like. (You could even add a magnet to the back.)

Here’s everything you need to make a special piece of jewellery or keepsake for that special mother figure in your life. What are her favourite colours? Does she love bracelets, or prefers necklaces, maybe a nice new keyring? So many options and so many colour combinations each piece will be unique. Suitable for ages 3 years+
Here’s the steps to make it:
- What will you make? A bracelet, a necklace, a keyring? Decide on that first then cut the string to size. Be sure to allow a little extra for tying.
- Choose your beads and start threading. You might like to lay out the beads first to organise your pattern and then begin to thread.
- You might like to write on or decorate the beads with markers – just the natural timber ones will work.
- Once you’re finished ask an adult to tie the ends together to secure your creation. We did 4 knots to be sure.

We’ve suggested some ideas of what you could use on the inside of the bauble, but there are so many more options. Who knew paper plates could be so versatile! Get creative with this Christmas Tree Craft Activity to show them how to turn a paper plate into a sparkly work of art.
Here’s how to make it:
- Take one of each of the two sizes of plates. Fold them in half both ways so you make quarters.
- Cut down the lines so you end up with 4 quarters of each plate.
- Take two quarters from the large plate and one quarter of the small plate top construct your tree (the small quarter goes at the top).
- Paint each section the colours you like. We’ve chosen green poster paint, but we’ve made some variations of the green by adding some yellow and/or white for some different colours. Paint with strokes, or dab for a leafy looking result.

Dad would love this personalised photo frame. Children have so many choices of how they might decorate their frame, from choices in paper, to a variety of embellishments available, every frame will be truly unique. Don’t forget to add a photo – or children may prefer to create a work of art to frame instead!
Here’s how to make it:
- Choose which paper/s you’d like to use to decorate the frame.
- Trace around the frame onto the back of the chosen paper/s.
- Cut around the traced line and check to see how it fits. It may need just a little more trimmed off to line up.
- Line up the paper and press the paper along the inner frame to dint the paper to reveal where you need to cut. Then cut out the inner
