Mother's Day Activities
Celebrate Mother’s Day with thoughtful and creative activities that encourage children to express love and appreciation for their mothers or significant caregivers. From handmade cards and crafts to heartfelt poems and songs, these activities nurture creativity, fine motor skills, and emotional expression. Educators can guide children in creating personalised gifts or organising special events, like morning teas or story-sharing sessions, to honour caregivers. Mother’s Day activities also provide opportunities to explore themes of gratitude, family, and relationships, fostering a deeper connection and sense of belonging. These experiences create meaningful moments for children to show care and kindness.

Tokens of Love activity allows children to create drawings, notes and even some spoil mum vouchers for mum to enjoy this Mother's Day, all stored in a uniquely decorated paper mache heart. Plus, children can continue to add to the heart for years to come, continuing to spread messages of love and appreciation.
Here’s how to make it:
- Fold the paper circles in half and then half again.
- Cut along the folds so you have four individual quarters of the circle.
- On the one side of the circle quarters have the children write and draw notes of appreciation and love for their mother*.
- Once they’re finished writing their notes use the ladybirds and any other crafty resources to decorate the Paper Mache Heart.
- Slip in your notes! Don’t forget to tell children to continue to post messages to mum anytime they like. (You could even add a magnet to the back.)

Here’s everything you need to make a special piece of jewellery or keepsake for that special mother figure in your life. What are her favourite colours? Does she love bracelets, or prefers necklaces, maybe a nice new keyring? So many options and so many colour combinations each piece will be unique. Suitable for ages 3 years+
Here’s the steps to make it:
- What will you make? A bracelet, a necklace, a keyring? Decide on that first then cut the string to size. Be sure to allow a little extra for tying.
- Choose your beads and start threading. You might like to lay out the beads first to organise your pattern and then begin to thread.
- You might like to write on or decorate the beads with markers – just the natural timber ones will work.
- Once you’re finished ask an adult to tie the ends together to secure your creation. We did 4 knots to be sure.
